OMGWTFBBQ

this moring my alarm clock in my cellphone went off.. I removed it from its charger and changed the time of the alarm to twenty minutes later.

2 minutes after that i was vast asleep listening to the soothing humm of my home server going doing 100% CPU.....

All was good...

untill

Kablammo rumblerumblerumblerumblerumblerumble (it goes on for 30 more seconds) the loudest sound i've ever heard. and i hear/see my tech-geek gear go dark...

Uh-oh!

Lightning struck somewhere in the neighbourhood..

luckely it didn't cause too much damage (apart from a process that was running that i had to restart)

Fellow Tech people... how can i protect against shit like this ?

How can I protect against shit like this?

"How can I protect against shit like this?" Well, being relatively new to the digital domain, perhaps I'm being a bit obvious, but' hmmmm, can you say"Surge Protector?" Sure, I knew that you could. Seriously, however, aren't they supposed to take care of "Shit", like that? Or, maybe, you could shut it down for the duration of the storm. And, fellow net freaks of the digital nation, that is my two cents for today

It has a surge protector on

It has a surge protector on it ... Appearantly it bypassed the surge protector and hit on the tv cable that was attached to my surge protector protected block... too bad that from there on it had free reign.
